How to Market Your Business on Snapchat
Alright, I know, I know, you already think I’m crazy for proposing that you try to use Snapchat. You may think it’s only for millennials, doesn’t make sense, and or you can’t use it for marketing. Well, I invite you on a journey with me to not only rethink that statement but also to get more than you thought out of it! Let’s start slow. This post will focus only on how to add Snapchat friends and create Snapcodes.
For our purposes, I’m going to assume you have a Snapchat account. If you don’t go ahead and create one. It’s fast and likely the easiest thing to do. Let’s start with what I’ll refer to as your homepage, mine looks like this:
The adding friends and contacts can simply be done as well. Click on the button “Add Friends” and scroll through your list. If you don’t see who you’re looking for, click the “Username” link. These don’t need only to be your friends. You may want to add businesses that are on Snapchat too. Notice the Snapcode link?
Click on that when you have a Snapcode that you want to follow. Take a photo of my Snapcode here:
When you click on the image from your photos, you’ll see this popup:
Then you can click on the “Open Link” to go to my web page. Think of all the uses for this. Add and image like this to your flyers, website, social sites, blog, business cards… The possibilities are infinite. You can create different Snapcodes for different things. You want people to sign up for your newsletter – use a Snapcode that brings them to that web page. Want people to access the sale you’ve created? Create a Snapcode for that.
Now that I’ve peaked your interest, I bet you’re thinking it’s complicated. It’s not, let me show you how you can easily create yours. Go back to your home page and click on the button in the upper left-hand corner. I’ve circled it in orange.
That brings you to your settings.
Next, click on the Snapcodes link. It brings you here:
Think you know what to do next? Of course, you do – click the “Create Snapcode” link.
Consider where you want someone to go to. This time I’m going to bring people to my blog, so I’m going to type in www.realcircles.com/. Notice what comes up?
It shows Blog – Real Circles. Yes, that’s where I want to lead people. But I want to have an image inside of the ghost. So, all I do is click on the “Tap to add an image” link and I can see images from the website and any I have saved on my phone.
Now, select an image. If it does not fit exactly like you want it, move it around and even make it larger or smaller to fit inside of the ghost. Finally, click the save button.
You are almost done, the last step is to save this Snapcode to your camera roll to have it when you are ready to use it. Click the “Save to Camera Roll” and you’re done.
Phew! That wasn’t so hard, was it? No, really was it? The next steps are a little more complicated, so I hope I didn’t lose you on this part!
I’ll give you a break from Snapchat for now. Next time I’ll explore how best to use Snapchat for your business.
