Social Media on Vacation
What do you do with your social media business accounts when you are out of town. If you are an entrepreneur and manage your social media accounts yourself this is for you.
I’m going to assume you are social and you have a marketing content schedule. You are doing all the things you need to do to stay top of mind, to elevate your exposure, reputation, and profits by using online marketing. However, now you want to go away, not forever, just need a break and are planning a vacation. Yeah, I know you have your content scheduled. It’s not that, you know how to do that too. What you want to know is how to deal with unplugging for a few days, possibly longer. I like to plan, so here’s how I go about my social media vacation plan…
I first look at the content scheduled. Do I ask questions in any of the content? Will there be a chance that I will need to respond to anything right away? If so, maybe I want to save the content for the future. If it is vital to share at that time, do I have someone in place to answer the messages on my behalf?
Now, I can go about my content in one of two ways, schedule it and say I will get back to it when I do and I will notify my audience of my “out of office” status or if I am gone for a short time, maybe I won’t post anything. While this may seem extreme when I have the ability to schedule, if it will weigh on my vacationing “social media time-out” mind that I need to check to see if I have comments to respond to, then I just won’t schedule the posts.
Yeah, I said it! I won’t post.
Now before you think I have totally lost my mind, I say this out of concern for the fact that I am going on vacation to get away. Get away from my everyday. And since you are reading this, I assume, part of your every day is opening your computer or phone and getting onto your social sites. So if you want to break free, do it. Free yourself from it while on vacation and know you will get to it when you come back refreshed and ready to conquer the world.
Now, before you go and enjoy your vacation, tell me what you will do.
