Use LinkedIn to Generate More Leads
You are here because you want to generate more leads. You already use LinkedIn but know there are better and more efficient ways to use it. There are. I’m here to tell you if you devote 20 minutes per day to efficiently using your time on LinkedIn you will generate more leads!
Step 1: Answer the question, “what do you do?”.
While this may seem obvious, many people go on about where they work and not what they actually do. Think about your 30-second or one-minute elevator speech. What do you say in that? Share the pains your clients have that you help them overcome. Remember this site is up all the time. When you are sleeping, working, vacationing, anyone can quickly see your profile and find out about you before even meeting you. This is your first impression so make it a good one! This can take a few minutes to a few hours. If you already have an elevator speech, start with that and expand upon it. While this is not necessarily a part of the daily 20 minutes on LinkedIn, if you don’t have a great answer for this question the rest of your work on LinkedIn will not work.
Step 2: Make real connections. (2 minutes per day)
Real connections are with people you know and people you want to know and plan on connecting with. If you have no desire to work with someone or their connections, don’t connect with them. Think of everyone you do business with as a potential connection on LinkedIn. Think of spending one to two minutes a day making new connections.
Step 3: Create a lead list. (5 minutes per day)
Need some new leads and don’t know where to begin? LinkedIn, LinkedIn, LinkedIn! Especially for business to business, you can find your leads here. If you spend just 5 minutes a day, finding leads and then asking your connections to connect you will see results.
Step 4: Know your clients and prospects. (3 minutes per day)
LinkedIn is a valuable resource for what your clients and prospects are up to. Many have business LinkedIn accounts. Follow the accounts. See what they are sharing, commenting on, and doing. Spend a few of minutes a day on this.
Step 5: Join the right groups. (5 minutes per day)
The right groups are groups where your customers and prospects are. They are also industry groups. Within these groups, you will find articles of value, a place to share your own valuable articles, and a place to add value by contributing your knowledge. Spend at least five minutes a day joining and participating in groups.
Step 6: Post valuable updates. (5 minutes per day)
Make what you share of value to everyone you are connected to. This can be a new blog piece you’ve written, an article of value, a statement of what your business is doing that day. Spend a few minutes daily sharing something of value with your connections.
Are you willing to spend 20 minutes a day on adding value on LinkedIn?
